So while I was disheartened to see both tropes pop up at once (although to be fair, the two do tend to be utilized together) it didn't turn out as bad as I feared. However, the tropes were handled in such a way that it never got annoying. While the first in this series was devoid of any of the cozy tropes I dislike, this one managed to hit two of them: MC being the prime suspect and an enemy detective. Unfortunately, the new detective on the case is convinced the killers were our MC and her boyfriend/chef. ![]() The victim was a much-hated critic for the local paper, and the list of suspects is nearly endless.
